## Why this matters

In a first meeting, most consultants pitch capability. The best ones prove insight. A strategy
audit lets you assess a prospect's strategy in the time it takes to make a coffee — and hand
them a scored, evidence-backed diagnosis they've never seen before, before you've opened a
proposal.

This is not a black-box AI opinion. The assessment applies the canon you already teach — Rumelt's
*Good Strategy/Bad Strategy*, Porter's competitive positioning, Kaplan & Norton's balanced
scorecard — and cites the client's **own words** back to them. That's the difference between an
opinion and a finding, and it's where the conversation about how you can help begins.

## Run the audit

<Steps>
  <Step title="Upload the strategy document">
    On the **Strategy** page, use **Upload** to bring in the client's existing
    strategy — a PDF, Word document, board paper, or even a photo of a
    whiteboard. The AI extracts the content; no reformatting needed. (See
    [Strategy](/features/strategy) for the full import flow.)

    </Frame>
  </Step>

  <Step title="Read the four-dimension assessment">
    Within seconds, the AI returns a **Quick Assessment** scoring the strategy
    across four dimensions — whether any key elements are missing, whether it is
    strategically coherent, whether goals are clear, measurable, and time-bound,
    and whether it is actionable. Each is rated **Poor → Excellent** with
    specific positives and gaps.

    <Frame caption="The Quick Assessment — each of the four dimensions is rated, with evidence">

    </Frame>
  </Step>

  <Step title="Turn a weakness into a conversation">
    Open a lower-scoring dimension. The finding quotes the client's own goals
    and points to exactly what's missing — for example, a goal like *"expand our
    digital presence meaningfully"* flagged for having no target, timeframe, or
    baseline. It's very hard for a prospect to argue with their own strategy.

    </Frame>
  </Step>

  <Step title="Go deeper with the Health Check">
    For a fuller picture, open the **Health Check** at the top of the client's
    home page — 14 dimensions of strategic health (Strategic Alignment, Goal
    Achievement, Innovation, Risk Management, Customer Focus, Employee
    Experience, and more), each rated **Poor → Excellent** with evidence drawn
    from the strategy, plus an overall assessment for the whole organisation.
    You choose which dimensions stay pinned to the client's home page.

    </Frame>
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Tip>
  **Don't just run it once.** For clients you already serve, run the audit every
  month or every quarter. You'll catch the drift between the board-approved
  strategy and what's actually being executed — before they do. That's the
  insight that renews an engagement.
</Tip>

## The value you're delivering

* **A conversation starter that wins work** — a detailed, evidence-backed assessment delivered
  before you've written a proposal.
* **Findings, not opinions** — every score is tied to the client's own wording, grounded in
  frameworks they recognise.
* **Days of analysis in minutes** — the diagnostic that normally needs interviews and document
  review, produced while the coffee is poured.
