Overview

Connecting Trello brings your boards into your strategy. Ciclo reads card data so you can:

Live KPIs

Turn board activity — open cards, cards due soon, overdue cards — into KPIs that refresh automatically.

Cards as Actions

Link a Trello card to an Action so the work appears on your board, with checklists, labels, and due dates carried across.
The sync is read-only (Trello → Ciclo): Ciclo reads your boards to populate KPIs and linked Actions, and never changes anything in Trello.
Connecting and configuring integrations is limited to organisation administrators.

Connect Trello

Trello authorises Ciclo with a token rather than a standard login pop-up — you grant access once on Trello’s authorisation page.
1

Open Connected Apps

Go to Settings from the account menu, open the Connected Apps tab, find Trello, and select Connect.
The Trello row in the Connected Apps settings tab
2

Allow access on Trello

Ciclo sends you to Trello’s authorisation page. Select Allow to grant read and write access, and you’ll be returned to Ciclo.

3

Confirm the connection

Trello shows a green Connected status once the token is stored.

Track Trello KPIs

1

Open the configuration

On the Trello row, select Configure, then Add New KPI.
The Create New Trello KPI form
2

Name it and choose a board

Give the KPI a clear name, then pick the Board it should measure.
3

Pick a template

Choose a Query Template as a starting point — see the catalogue below.
4

Create the KPI

Select Create KPI. It appears on your Performance page and refreshes automatically.

Available Trello KPIs

  • Open Cards Count — all open cards on the board.
  • Cards Due Soon — cards due in the next 7 days.
  • Overdue Cards — cards past their due date.

Customising a KPI (optional)

You don’t need any of this to get great results — the built-in templates are designed to be accurate on their own. Pick a template and a board, and you’re done. Expand the sections below only if you want to fine-tune or go further.
If a template is close but not quite right, you can adjust it instead of starting from scratch. Every KPI has an editable Query field — for example, switch the Trello filter from overdue cards to cards due next week. The templates simply fill this field in for you; editing it is optional.
Power users can adjust the query using Trello’s card API filters and fields. For everything that’s possible, see:

Trello REST API

The filters and fields Trello accepts when listing cards.
1

Open an action and go to Connect

Create or open an Action, then choose Connect.
2

Choose the board and card

Select Trello, pick the board, then choose the card to connect. Ciclo fills in the title, description, checklist items (as tasks), labels (as tags), and due date.

3

Save the action

Save, and the action stays connected to the card.
When a card is connected, Ciclo decides its starting column from the Trello list name — lists named like Done or Complete map to Done, In Progress / Doing / Active map to In Progress, and everything else starts in Backlog.

Disconnecting Trello

Select Disconnect on the Trello row. Ciclo shows which KPIs and Actions rely on Trello before you confirm.
Disconnecting preserves history — KPIs keep their recorded values and linked Actions keep their data. They stop syncing until you reconnect, then resume automatically.
